Message Board
Forum Help
The Message Board or Forum allows you to communicate with other people, including our office, by posting
written messages on the board. It is
not meant to be used in real time. Members read the messages whenever
they visit the board, and then respond to them or leave new messages of their own. A
Message Board  is also
known as a
Forum or BBS.

The idea of a
BBS or Bulletin Board System stems from the concept of people posting messages on a
supermarket bulletin board, for example. After the message is posted on the supermarket bulletin board,
people read it in the future and then respond to it, usually by phoning the person. Here, people post messages
online in the Forum and you read and reply to those messages online at some point after they have been
posted. You can also start your own topics that other people will reply to in the future.

When you click on the
Forum link, our Message Board will be displayed. You can read the messages on the
board, but you cannot post messages until you register for it. Registration also lets you use all the other
features of the Forum.

Forum Registration:

To register for our Message Board, click on the Register link at the top of the forum to start the process. You
must supply a
username, a valid e-mail address, and your location in order to register. The username is
linked to your
e-mail address and is used to uniquely identify you in our forum system. It must consist solely of
letters and numbers and may contain no spaces. Your
username cannot be changed once you register.
However, you can select a different
display name after you register. This is the name that will be displayed
when you leave a message on the forum. The point is that your forum name can be different from your
username.

After you register, a
password will be sent to the e-mail address that you supplied. After you receive the
password, then you can log into the forum. After you log into the forum for the first time, you should open your
Profile and change your password. You are able to change your e-mail address, your password, and your
display name from your Profile page after you register, but you cannot change your username.

Forum Login/Logout:

Click on the Login link at the top of the board and supply your username and password. After you log in, you can
use the forum. You only have to register for the forum once, but you must log into the forum, if you are logged
out, every time you want to use it.

There are two options on the login screen for how long you want to stay logged in. If you select
Always stay
logged in
, then you will remain logged in for as long as you remain online, even if you visit other sites. If you
don't select this option, which is selected by default, then you can set the number of
Minutes to stay logged in
before you are automatically logged out. You can also
manually log out of the forum at any time by clicking the
Logout link at the top of the board.

Using the Forum:

The Fontana Forum is a full-featured message board with no annoying banner-ads or pop-ups of any kind. It
features
Public and Private Messages, Avatars, Instant Messengers,  Buddy Lists, Customizable Profiles,
User Polls, and Template Selection
, among its many features. Those members who have used a forum before
should be able to use our forum right away. For those new to forums, here are the basics.

The
Forum is broken up into different Categories and each category has a number of Sections. Click on the
section that interests you and you will see a list of all
Topics or Subjects for that section. Click on the topic that
interests you and you will see the message that started that topic, followed by all the replies for that topic.

You can just read all the messages without replying or you can post a
Reply to that topic, if you wish to
contribute to the discussion. You can also select
Start new topic if you wish to start a new topic of your own.
Then other members will read your message and usually reply to it.

Note about Private Forums: Two of our seven sections are Private Forums. They are Judge's Chambers and
Client Confidential. That means you cannot enter them without a special password. The five Public Forums can
be entered by our members at any time.

If you are an attorney and wish access to our
Judge's Chambers Forum, contact us and we will make
arrangements to give you the
password. Please note that only attorneys from our firm will have access to the
Private Client Forum.

If you are a client and wish access to our
Client Confidential Forum, we will provide the password to you in our
office. Please note that only clients and attorneys from our firm will have access to this forum. You can use this
section to get the
status of your case or ask questions about your case.

Additional Forum Help:

Complete Help
with using our Forum is contained on the Forum itself. You can use the Help link at the top of the
Forum for a
Users' Guide to using the Forum. You can also obtain help by visiting the Forum Help section in the
Legal Aid category of the Forum. That section contains numerous pre-written help topics and also allows
members to ask questions in order to obtain further help.

If you want to visit our
Message Board directly without visiting this site, you can use this URL in your browser to
